Addiction Treatment for Veterans

Veteran Rehab Track

Our veterans rehab track is built specifically for military veterans, with addiction treatment that recognizes how service-related trauma, PTSD, chronic stress, sleep disruption, isolation, loss of purpose, or the transition to civilian life may affect addiction and recovery.

We provide veteran-informed addiction treatment with trauma-responsive therapy, psychiatric care, MAT when clinically appropriate, peer connection, VA coordination, and disciplined structure grounded in routine, accountability, and shared understanding, so that you can regain stability, rebuild identity and purpose, strengthen the skills that protect recovery, and move toward lasting freedom from addiction.

Recovery Story

Restoring the Parts of Life Addiction Took Away

Myron’s words describe recovery as something much larger than stopping drugs or alcohol. As a United States Navy veteran, he credits his experience at Lighthouse with restoring parts of himself addiction had affected deeply: his spirituality, work ethic, self-respect, happiness, and capacity for love. He also remembers the mentors he met along the way.

Taken together, those changes speak to the kind of recovery we want veterans to experience: renewed discipline, meaningful connection, a stronger sense of identity, and a life worth protecting. His story is powerful evidence that treatment can become a place where a veteran begins rebuilding the person and life beneath the addiction.

Groups & Activities

Each day is intentionally structured to move recovery forward. Clinical care, recovery education, wellness, peer connection, and reflection work together to turn insight into practice and practice into new patterns.

Frequently Asked Questions About Veteran Rehab

Lighthouse provides veterans rehab for military veterans whose primary treatment need is a substance use disorder, including veterans also experiencing PTSD, anxiety, depression, sleep disturbance, chronic stress, anger, isolation, or other trauma-related symptoms.

You do not need to know whether Detox, Residential Treatment, PHP, or IOP is the right starting point. Our Admissions team reviews your substance use, mental health, medical needs, recovery history, current stability, and any VA involvement, then helps identify the appropriate level of care and a clear path forward.

If you are a veteran wondering whether treatment is necessary, or a family member watching someone you love continue to struggle, call Admissions. We will help you understand the situation, your options, and what to do next.

Yes. Lighthouse treats substance use and co-occurring trauma-related symptoms within one integrated clinical model.

PTSD, chronic stress, anxiety, sleep problems, emotional reactivity, or difficult service-related experiences may become closely connected to substance use and relapse. Our clinical team addresses those connections through Trauma-Informed Care, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, DBT-informed interventions, Motivational Interviewing, relapse prevention, psychiatric services, and medication management.

Treatment starts with stabilization, emotional regulation, and practical coping skills, then progresses according to each veteran’s clinical readiness. If trauma and substance use are reinforcing the same cycle, speak with Admissions about a treatment plan built to address both.

Lighthouse provides Detox, Residential Treatment, PHP, and IOP for veterans based on clinical need and VA recommendations.

Our continuum allows treatment to match where you actually are in recovery. A veteran entering treatment in withdrawal may need medical stabilization first. Another may need immersive residential care. Someone further along may benefit from structured outpatient treatment while rebuilding work, family, and daily responsibilities.

Because these levels of care are connected within the Lighthouse treatment system, your next step can be planned as recovery progresses. If you are unsure where to begin, call Admissions and we will help identify the right starting point.

Lighthouse coordinates VA-referred rehab directly with the referring VA team.

We work with VA systems and documented TriWest and TriCare referral pathways. Our Admissions team reviews clinical needs, referral details, approved level of care, transportation, and intake timing, then coordinates the steps required to move the veteran into treatment.

Eligibility, authorization, covered services, and approved length of care remain subject to the VA referral and benefit details. Our transportation team can also coordinate pickup from VA facilities and referral sources when transportation is available for the placement.

If you already have a VA referral, or are trying to understand how the process works, call Admissions. We can help turn the referral into a clear treatment plan and next step.

Lighthouse veterans rehab commonly ranges from 30 to 90+ days, with length of care shaped by the assigned level of treatment, clinical need, medical necessity, recovery progress, and VA recommendations.

Some veterans begin with short-term stabilization. Others benefit from extended residential treatment followed by PHP or IOP as they build greater independence. Our treatment team reviews progress throughout care and updates recommendations so each phase continues to support long-term recovery.

If you are concerned about how long treatment may take, speak with Admissions. We can explain how our continuum works and what factors influence the recommended length of care.

Yes. Lighthouse provides Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) when clinically appropriate as part of veterans drug rehab and veteran substance abuse treatment.

Our medical and psychiatric providers use MAT to support withdrawal management, stabilization, treatment engagement, and relapse risk reduction when indicated. Medication support is integrated with therapy, psychiatric care, recovery programming, medical oversight, and individualized treatment planning.

A qualified Lighthouse provider evaluates substance use history, current symptoms, medications, and clinical needs before recommending MAT. If opioid use, alcohol dependence, withdrawal concerns, or previous relapse are part of the picture, call Admissions to discuss how medical and clinical support may fit into your treatment plan.

Yes. Lighthouse involves family members and close supports when participation is clinically appropriate and authorized by the veteran.

Addiction affects the people closest to the person struggling with it. Families often arrive carrying fear, frustration, broken trust, and uncertainty about what actually helps. Our Family Support services may include education, family sessions, communication guidance, treatment-planning support, and transition planning.

Lighthouse helps loved ones better understand addiction, healthy boundaries, recovery support, and what the veteran may need as treatment progresses. If your family has been trying to help and nothing seems to change, call Admissions. We can help you understand how to support recovery more effectively.

Lighthouse guides you in planning the next stage of recovery while treatment is still underway.

Our Transition Planning process helps veterans prepare for what comes next, which may include PHP, IOP, Sober Living, ongoing therapy, psychiatric follow-up, medical care, VA resources, recovery meetings, employment or education planning, family support, and the Alumni Program.

Our case managers also identify barriers such as housing, transportation, appointments, and community connection before those issues interfere with continuity of care. The goal is for each veteran to move forward with a defined recovery plan, established supports, and a clear understanding of the next step.

If you are ready to begin that process, call Admissions. We can help you determine where treatment should start and how the path forward can be structured.
